Last year, Arrow Digital CEOs Jasmine & Anup Batra took part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout on 23 June 2016.
In an effort to raise awareness and much needed funds for homelessness in Melbourne, the Arrow leaders swapped their warm beds and a roof over their head for a cardboard cut-out and a cold night on the street that saw them getting far from restful zees.
With sleepouts taking place in capital cities across the country simultaneously, it was fantastic to see the heads of Australian businesses leading by philanthropic example to shine a light on those suffering from severe financial and emotional difficulty.
Too many Australians are experiencing homelessness every night, with the vast majority out of sight and ‘out of mind’, moving from one place to the next each night.
Last year, St Vincent de Paul were able to provide 497,738 beds, 469,117 meals and assistance on 1,173,698 occasions to people experiencing disadvantage and homelessness.
And with the help of 309 CEOs and 146 donators, Vinnies were able to raise $26,225 from the event alone.
It truly was a commendable and enlightening effort.
But, there still remains a lot to be done.
The continued generosity of Australians nation-wide continues to inspire Vinnies, so they are delighted to announce that the CEO Sleepout will return again in 2017. On Thursday 22 June, all ends of the country – with the exception of Adelaide, whose event will take place the following Thursday evening – will unite to sleep outside for another cold, wintry night.
Eradicating homelessness is a giant feat, but it cannot be done with a few hands.
Vinnies is calling upon the generosity and selflessness of the Australian people once again to raise much needed funding and awareness to help those desperately in need.
