In the time it took you to read the first sentence on this blogpost, there were 700 Facebook
updates and 600 Twitter tweets. Search engines cannot ignore the activity in social media and still remain relevant.

Google’s Search Engine Ranking positions which had hitherto relied heavily on keyword placement inbound and outbound links and anchor text etc now have a new dimension of content’s shareability and popularity in the social sphere.

1.    Identify Shareable content on your website: People are not going to retweet and  share your services pages, however your whitepapers and case studies can generate interest hence sharing
2.    Think receny and frequency: Creating relevant content is still the key. However, having  system that is focused around creating content around current topics in your industry be it legislation, scientific discovery or process innovation gets rewarded. And remember, it is not about being the first to talk about it. It is about keeping the momentum by way of frequency.
3.    Install Social media Buttons on your website – Make it easy for users on your website to share that content. Install social media plugins like Like, tweet, g+ so that your browsers are encouraged to share.
